Traditionally, Giving Tuesday is held on the Tuesday after Thanksgiving each year. People all over the world come together and donate for the causes that most move their hearts.  We were humbled by the support the Michigan Veteran community created when hundreds of you supported Fisher House Michigan on a single day -- last year, you collectively made a $100,000 Giving Tuesday gift! 

 

So many of us are dealing with social distancing and isolation, and while those are extremely important for helping everyone stay healthy and safe, it can get very lonely!  We're feeling that sense of loneliness at Fisher House Michigan, but we're also encouraged by all of the unique ways people are trying to stay connected.

GivingTuesdayNow is a new global effort being held on May 5th to promote charitable organizations and their urgent need for support during these uncertain times.  We are reaching out to let the Fisher House Michigan community know that this event is another wonderful way to connect with others around the world.

 

Whether you donate financially or promote this event through your social circles, know that Fisher House Michigan and other charities around the world are so grateful to have you engaging with others and helping connect to charitable missions and people who are doing good work!  We hope to see you on May 5th!

 

If you feel moved to donate today, our immediate needs are:

 

• Provide support to our Heroes Helping Heroes through a weekly hot meal for the Detroit and Ann Arbor VA critical care units.
  
  
• Provide lodging and support for the few family members allowed into the VA to spend the last moments with their terminal loved ones.
  
  
• Continued capital support to build a Fisher House at the John D. Dingell VA Medical Center in Detroit
